Trump Urged to Skip Trial and Attend Son’s Graduation

( – Piers Morgan, host of The Five on Fox News, has encouraged former President Donald Trump to skip trial to attend his son’s graduation despite risking arrest, saying it would force the Democrats into “political suicide.”

New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan has told Trump that he will face arrest if he is not present at the daily court sessions of his hush money trial. Morgan said the 2024 presidential candidate should attend Barron’s graduation from Oxbridge Academy at Palm Beach, Florida, despite being scheduled to appear in court in New York over 1,000 miles away. The host commented that every other parent in the country, regardless of their views on Trump, would do the same.

If Trump is convicted in the hush money criminal trial, he could find himself in a political quagmire. Ironically, he would be ensnared by the policies of his former rival, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who established an “election police” taskforce to prevent felons from voting illegally. In New York City, where the charges are filed, Trump’s voting rights would be reinstated after he completes his sentence. However, as a felon, he would only be eligible to run for federal office, not state office, and he would be disqualified as a candidate for state office in all states other than Maine and Vermont.

On the first day of the trial, nearly half of the jurors were dismissed when they confessed they could not be fair and impartial in their verdict on Trump’s case, seeming to confirm Trump’s claim that he would be unable to receive a fair trial in the predominantly blue area.

Morgan called Merchan’s case “ridiculous.” Judge Jeanine Pirro, who served as Republican prosecutor in neighboring Westchester County and served as its Republican prosecutor for several years, commented on the case. Pirro stated that Merchan can indeed issue a warrant and have Trump arrested if he fails to attend, but left it open whether such a move would be politically beneficial for the Democrats.
