Special Council’s Report Hands Impeachment Inquiry New Ammunition

(WatchDogReport.org) – Robert Hur, a special counsel for the Justice Department, finally published his investigation regarding President Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified data last week. However, Hur advised against charging Biden for the crime.

Congress is asking Biden why he kept memoranda on foreign affairs where his son did business. Hur’s probe and Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop emails raise issues about how Joe Biden’s official activities corresponded with Ukrainian energy company Burisma’s efforts when his son Hunter was a board member.

The House Oversight Committee wants the Department of Justice to provide the confidential special counsel with papers.

Reports show the special counsel’s investigators uncovered a sensitive document headed “U.S. Energy Assistance to Ukraine,” a September 17, 2014 memo for the Vice President from his staff, in one binder. Hunter Biden joined Burisma Holdings’ board in April 2014. Hunter Biden made $1 million a year despite having no energy industry expertise.

The Obama/Biden Administration supported Ukraine’s pro-Western government economically and militarily after the Maidan Revolution.

According to an April 2014 conversation between Vice President Biden and elected Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, energy security was a priority. Hunter’s father was Obama’s Ukraine policy point man.

Vice President Biden made a commitment during his 2014 visit to Ukraine to increase energy efficiency and output in the country’s natural gas reserves. Burisma was Ukraine’s leading private gas producer when Hunter Biden became a board member.

The emails recovered from Hunter Biden’s laptop show that Burisma wanted to use the Municipal Energy Reform Project (MERP) for Ukraine, led by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), to help Ukraine become energy independent.

In October 2014, Vadim Pozharskyi, a top officer at Burisma who had strong ties to Hunter Biden, visited Washington, DC. He returned to Ukraine with positive news for Burisma’s board, consultants, and lobbyists. He emailed them to inform them that, as part of his official business trip to the nation’s capital, the company has begun collaborating with USAID’s MERP in Ukraine to increase efficiency and reduce reliance on foreign energy sources. In addition to the other board members, Hunter Biden was also copied on the email.
