(WatchDogReport.org) – Russia’s government has blamed the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on President Joe Biden’s administration.
The Kremlin argued that the political climate under Biden’s leadership demonstrated the failures of US democracy and liberalism. Moscow stopped short of accusing the White House of being involved in the attack on July 13, however, according to the statement by the Kremlin pool newsgroup.
The statement added that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not intend to call Trump following the incident. Leftwing commentators fearing Trump’s possible return to the White House have accused him of being Pro-Putin even after the latter’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Trump’s choice of JD Vance as his running mate has raised concerns among many politicians in the European Union due to Vance’s criticism of American aid to Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has indicated that he is not worried about the prospect of Trump returning to the White House, however, and expressed his faith that a Republican government would support Ukrainians.
President Joe Biden claimed in February that there was “no doubt” that Putin was to blame for the death of his leading political opponent, Alexei Navalny, in an Arctic penal colony. Navalny’s widow, Yulia Navalnaya, branded Putin a “gangster” following her husband’s death, and was arrested by Russian authorities in July for allegedly participating in an “extremist society”.
Russian opposition leader and political prisoner Kara-Murza is reportedly in stable condition following two poisoning attempts. Putin is also rumored to have been involved in the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the former leader of the Wagner mercenary group. Two months after his failed military coup against Putin’s regime, Prigozhin was killed when his plane exploded and plummeted from the sky.
Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claimed that the attempt on Trump’s life reflected that America’s democracy had reached a “suicidal state” thanks to progressive agendas. With both Republicans and Democrats being accused of inciting violence in an increasingly hostile political climate, the exact motives of the shooter are currently unknown. Thomas Crooks, 20, was a registered Republican voter, but he also made a $15 donation to liberal voter turnout group the Progressive Turnout Project.
