(WatchDogReport.org) – Academy Award-winning actor George Clooney turned on US President Joe Biden and said he should quit his campaign on July 10, as he claimed that the Democratic Party wouldn’t be able to maintain the White House with him. His comments were surprising as he hosted a star-studded fundraiser for the commander-in-chief in June, as he claimed back then that President Biden was the best option to beat former President and Republican nominee Donald Trump.
Clooney delivered the shocking comments in a New York Times editorial following President Biden’s presidential debate with Trump on June 27. The Democratic leader’s performance that night was so disastrous that some of the most important liberal journalists and Democratic politicians claimed he should step aside and let another candidate compete against Trump. Despite the pressure, President Biden claimed he would stay in the race and win November’s electoral event.
About President Biden, Clooney said that he loves him not only because of his time as a senator or vice president during the Obama administration but also because of his “character” and his “morals.” However, the Hollywood actor wrote that while President Biden is a person who has won many battles throughout his life, he explained that neither the Democratic leader nor anyone else can win the “fight against time.”
While the actor helped the Biden campaign raise $30 million at the high-profile fundraiser in Los Angeles with actress Julia Roberts and former President Barack Obama, he said in the editorial that he realized President Biden wasn’t the same. Clooney said that President Biden, whom he spent time with in June, wasn’t the same man as the one he spent time with in 2020 after winning the presidential election.
Clooney said about the debate’s performance that even when the president might have a cold or was tired, no one can tell 51 million people that they didn’t see what “we just saw.” He also stressed that he had spoken privately with some governors and senators and they all agree that President Biden can’t be the nominee, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
