(WatchDogReport.org) – Former South Carolina governor and presidential candidate Nikki Haley notched her first triumph of the primary campaign after beating former president and presidential candidate Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., on March 3. Haley, who was the United States Ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump administration, won the electoral event with almost 63 percent of the vote, allowing her to walk away with 19 delegates.
Despite the victory, some political analysts said that her triumph in the capital city doesn’t mean anything, as Washington has been one of the most anti-Trump cities in the United States. Journalist David Alandete explained on his Twitter account that the idea that the victory could somehow make Haley gain momentum is “nonsense,” as he said, “everyone knew” she was going to win in Washington.
However, on Super Tuesday, Haley won a second time in Vermont, securing just shy of 50 percent of the votes.
Before the primary, some media outlets explained that the capital city was the former South Carolina governor’s best shot at ending the former president’s undefeated primary streak. While Trump won the district in the 2020 primary, he finished behind former Ohio Governor John Kasich and Florida Senator Marco Rubio during the 2016 primary. The district has been considered a Democratic stronghold, with President Biden receiving 92 percent of the support of the Washington vote in the 2020 presidential election.
So far, Trump has delivered an extraordinary performance in the GOP primaries, notching victories in Michigan, South Carolina, the Virgin Islands, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Iowa. The stream of victories grew considerably on Super Tuesday when he won 14 of the 15 presidential primaries up for grabs.
The following day, Nikki Haley dropped out of the race.
I end my campaign with the same words I began it from the Book of Joshua. I direct them to all Americans, but especially to so many of the women and girls out there who put their faith in our campaign.
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged. For God… pic.twitter.com/XAwgOGzKdy

With Trump’s final noteworthy competition out, it looks as though the 2020 rematch with Biden is all but set in stone.
