(WatchDogReport.org) – According to a CNN February 1 poll, US President Joe Biden officially holds the worst January approval rating in a presidential election year during polling’s modern era. The poll’s results show the commander-in-chief’s low popularity, which has been affected over the last few months because of his stance in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
As reported by the liberal network, the president’s popularity currently stands at 38 percent, which is five points below that of Republican leader and former President Donald Trump in January 2020. President Biden’s unpopularity is also worse than former President Barack Obama at the same point in his presidency.
CNN’s survey sampled 1,212 adults from January 25 to January 30, and has a margin of error of 3.8 points. The poll is the latest in historically bad polling for President Biden, who has seen his popularity decrease over the last few years because of a series of issues that have been affecting the United States.
While the two most important have been the border crisis and the economic crisis, the armed conflict in the Middle East has increased the commander-in-chief’s unpopularity among many Democrats. Different polls have shown that the most progressive faction of the Democratic Party widely disagrees with President Biden’s support for the Israeli government in its war against the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Many progressive voters believe that the liberal leader has been “too radical” and want him to call for an immediate cease-fire.
In December 2023, FiveThirtyEight also revealed in one of its polls that President Biden was the least popular commander-in-chief in the United States modern history. The survey found that the liberal leader’s approval rating was -18 points, besting former president Trump by nearly six points.
A month after the poll was published, FiveThirtyEight also revealed President Biden had the worst net approval rating in the United States history at 1,080s days in office, with -17.2 points. Trump had -11.8 points, while Obama had 0.6 points.
