Journalist Seemingly Arrested Over a Simple Question

(WatchDogReport.org) – Rebel News Network reporter David Menzies was arrested on January 8 in Canada after asking the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland a question. A police officer accused the conservative media outlet’s reporter of assault, in what many people on social media have claimed was a fabricated charge.

Rebel News director and editor-in-chief Ezra Levant published the video of the whole incident, which eventually became viral. The footage shows Menzies asking the left-wing leader about the Canadian government’s refusal to label the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group.

The military force has been blamed for being behind numerous terrorist attacks in the Middle East and for trying to create chaos in numerous countries in the region. While some Western nations have already labeled the IRGC as a terrorist organization, many governments have refused to take the step because of the pressure of many left-wing and pro-Islamic groups.

When the journalist was walking down the public sidewalk, keeping pace with Freeland, an officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police suddenly stood in front of him and started to arrest him. While doing it, the RCMP member claimed that the journalists “assaulted” him.

As noted in the video, the Rebel News reporter barely seems to notice the officer, considering that his entire attention was on the Deputy Prime Minister. As reported by Breitbart News, the RCMP officer seemed to set a “pick, basketball-style” as an excuse for accusing the reporter of committing assault when there wasn’t any sign of intent to do so.

Over the last few years, Rebel News has been known for being one of the main critics of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Breitbart suggested that Menzies was deliberately arrested so he couldn’t ask questions to Trudeau, who was also at the event the Rebel News reporter was attending.

On his Twitter account, Levant said that he and the media outlet will formally sue the RCMP for assault, false imprisonment, and false arrest.
