(WatchDogReport.org) – Most Republican presidential candidates rallied around former President and GOP frontrunner Donald Trump after the Colorado Supreme Court removed him from the state’s 2024 ballot. One of these was Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who said on Twitter that the left always likes to “invoke democracy” to justify its “use of power.” He claimed that liberals always do it, no matter if it means abusing the judicial power to eliminate a presidential candidate from the ballot.
Former South Carolina Governor and United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley also defended Trump. She said during a press conference that the only people who can make these decisions in the country are the voters instead of judges. Haley told reporters that if anyone wants to prevent Trump from becoming the GOP nominee, it has to do it in “the right way.”
Conservative entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who is known for being Trump’s strongest defender among the GOP candidates, vowed to withdraw his name from the primary ballot in Colorado as a way of protesting its Supreme Court’s decision. He even encouraged the rest of presidential candidates to take the same stance, as he said that removing a presidential candidate from a state’s primary ballot sets a “dangerous precedent.”
During a press conference, Ramaswamy said that what Colorado’s Supreme Court did was an “attack on democracy,” as he considered its decision not only unprecedented and “un-American” but also “unconstitutional.” The conservative entrepreneur also claimed that the Democratic Party and the Biden administration have already tried all methods to “eliminate” the former president from running in the Republican Party’s primaries and presidential election.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who is known for being the most vocal opponent of Trump among the GOP presidential candidates, said that the ruling was “premature.” He said on his Twitter account that the Colorado Supreme Court should’ve waited for him to be tried for allegedly inciting the Capitol Riots. Christie added he doesn’t believe that Trump should be prevented from running for office by any court in the country.
