(WatchDogReport.org) – Fox News announced in a Monday morning statement that the company and host Tucker Carlson decided to part ways, in what many believe is a massive move that could affect the network’s ratings considering he was its most popular anchor. Fox News claims that Carlson wasn’t fired and that the decision was mutual.
In a later on-air announcement, the network’s host Harris Faulker stated that both Carlson and Fox News agreed to part ways. She said during her show that the company will always “thank him for his service,” not only as a host but also for his previous role as a contributor.
In the statement, Fox News also said that his last show was Friday, April 21, and that an interim show will start airing by rotating network personalities until a new host is officially named.
The news comes almost a week after a $787 million settlement deal between Dominion Voting Systems and Fox after the network was accused of pushing a conspiracy theory that suggested the voting machine company manipulated the 2020 presidential election to favor then-candidate Joe Biden. The network defended its coverage and dismissed Dominion’s suit as a “political crusade” whose only goal was to get a “financial windfall.”
In February, Dominion filed court documents that contained emails and different types of private communications from network personnel, including Carlson, in which many of them cast doubts on claims involving the voting system despite what they said on air. According to the filing, Carlson texted his producer Alex Pfeiffer on November 8th that the allegations against Dominion were “absurd.”
Over the last few months, Carlson has been criticized by political and media personalities for expressing Pro-Russia stances regarding the invasion of Ukraine. Some believe this may have played a role in Carlson’s exit from the network.
Speculation from various other news outlets claims the network actually fired Carlson.
