(WatchDogReport.org) – The tensions between Taiwan and China have increased in recent years. The decision by the US government to engage the Taiwanese people has made the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) even more hostile. Now, a top military official is warning of a possible invasion.
On March 22, Commander of the US Pacific Fleet Admiral John Aquilino told US senators that there’s a “critical concern” that China may invade Taiwan. He called annexing the small island the Chinese government’s “number one priority,” saying the “rejuvenation of the Chinese Communist Party is at stake.” The admiral said an invasion could happen “today to 2045.”
The Chinese government believes Taiwan is part of the People’s Republic of China, but the Taiwanese government disagrees. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also said Taiwan is not part of the communist country any longer. An invasion is a worst-case scenario, and the US military has said it wants to avoid that.
