(WatchDogReport.org) – Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon has made it clear he has no intention of cooperating with the January 6 witch hunt. To prove it, he defied a congressional subpoena, which has landed him in legal trouble. Now, he’s hired a legal pitbull to defend him against the Left.
On November 12, a federal grand jury handed down an indictment against Bannon for contempt of Congress. The former official turned himself in to the FBI on Monday, revealing he’d hired Attorney David Schoen.
Americans will remember Schoen as the lawyer who defended former President Donald Trump during the second impeachment trial earlier this year.

Schoen specializes in criminal defense and civil rights law. Since he defended Trump, he also knows the ins and outs of executive privileges. Bannon is claiming he doesn’t have to testify because of executive privilege. Schoen appeared on CNN’s “New Day” to argue the same point, saying the Office of Legal Counsel supports the former official’s position.
The case against Bannon will likely take months, even years, to resolve. If Bannon wins, he will successfully expand executive privilege to cover all conversations the president has, both personal and professional in nature. On their end, Democrats have now turned their attention to former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, he’s also refusing to cooperate citing executive privilege.
