Poll Shows Trump and DeSantis Leading Biden

Poll Shows Trump and DeSantis Leading Biden by 7 Points

(WatchDogReport.org) – According to a Washington Post-ABC News survey published on Sunday, May 7, US President Donald Trump would currently win an election against US President Joe Biden. The controversial businessman leads Biden by 7 points. Many find this quite surprising as it’s the first time that Trump has shown a popularity lead of more than 5 points against the current commander-in-chief.

The poll revealed that 49 percent of American respondents would probably or definitely vote for the former president or are inclined toward voting for the Republican leader if there’s a re-match of the 2020 presidential election. The poll also revealed that nearly 42 percent of respondents would probably or definitely vote for the Democratic leader or are inclined toward voting for him next year.

In the case of a matchup between Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and President Biden instead of Trump, American respondents also gave the GOP leader a 5-point lead over the U.S. commander-in-chief. The survey showed that 48 percent of American respondents would probably or definitely vote for the Florida Governor or are inclined toward casting their votes for him. Meanwhile, only 41 percent said the same for President Biden.

Former president Donald Trump also received good results when asked if he and President Biden were in good physical shape and healthy enough to lead the country. Sixty-four percent responded that the Republican leader is, while only 33 said the same about President Biden. When questioned if the candidates had the proper “mental sharpness” to be the next commander-in-chief, 32 percent responded yes to the current president, compared to 54 percent who approved of Trump.

As reported by the Post, the poll was conducted from April 26th to May 3rd, and it surveyed 1,006 American adults, with a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
