Microwave Attack Likely Responsible For US Diplomats' Mysterious Illness

(WatchDogReport.org) – Starting in 2016, American diplomats in Cuba and China began experiencing symptoms similar to traumatic brain injuries. The mysterious illness was dubbed “Havana syndrome,” and was thought to have been an intentional attack on US government employees. A new report commissioned by the State Department might have found the cause.

On Saturday, December 5, the National Academy of Sciences published the findings of their report. According to the institution, microwave energy, or “directed pulsed [radio frequency] energy” looks to be the “most plausible” explanation.

The report doesn’t say the use of the energy was a deliberate attack on American diplomats, or name a responsible party. It does say there’s a concern about “disinhibited malevolent actors and new tools for causing harm.” The study looked at psychological issues, chemical exposure, tropical diseases and other possible causes, but the so-called microwave attack seemed most likely.

As of this writing, the Trump administration has not commented on the report’s findings.
