(WatchDogReport.org) – On September 19, the Chico Police Department (CPD) in California received a call from out of state saying a man had been making threats against a resident of their city. While investigating that tip, they discovered that 37-year-old David Marsh allegedly had more sinister actions in mind — he intended to go on a shooting rampage.

The city’s Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) came across evidence that Marsh was allegedly “was making criminal threats” against people, including law enforcement officers, in a “Las Vegas style” event. This references the 2017 tragedy where Stephen Paddock barricaded himself in a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and opened fire on a crowd at a nearby concert, killing at least 59 people.

A CPD press release alleges Marsh had a specified deadline in mind but did not provide any further information on the time or place. They also claim he was combative, threatened to kill law enforcement officers and their families, and hit an officer with a table during an interview.

Jail records indicate Marsh is being held in Butte County Jail without bail on charges of resisting arrest, battery against a peace officer, and threatening a crime with the intent to terrorize.
