Kevin McCarthy Calls Out Nancy Pelosi Over Voting Inconsistency

(WatchDogReport.org) – In May, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) changed the House rules to allow proxy-voting. For much of 2020, representatives have cast their votes without being in the chamber. That will change in 2021, but Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is calling her out before the new session begins.

House Minority Leader McCarthy said the speaker is fine with Liberals “skipping work” when they have to cast ballots for legislation, but she wants them to come back to the Hill to cement “her power.”

McCarthy’s comments come after House Rules Committee Chairman Jim McGovern (D-MA) told Democratic lawmakers that they had to return on January 3. If they skip work, they can’t be sworn in. McGovern also told the representatives on the Left that they needed to be there to vote for a new rules package and Pelosi’s speakership.

In other words, lawmakers are being called back to secure the Democratic Party’s power, not to do the work of the people.
