(WatchDogReport.org) – The 2022 midterm elections are over a year away, but Republican candidates are in full campaign mode. Many of them are trying to get a coveted endorsement from former President Donald Trump, who is quickly becoming known as a kingmaker in his party.
According to the Washington Examiner, one race where Trump’s presence is looming large is the Ohio Senate race. The former president won the state twice. He is still incredibly popular in the Buckeye State, and the candidates know it.
Donald Trump is looming over the Ohio Senate race as the Republican candidates jockey for an endorsement.
“It’s anybody’s race — and likely to be Trump’s pick if he endorses."

One of the candidates vying for the Republican nomination is J.D. Vance, a venture capitalist who has not always had kind words for the former president. On Monday, July 5, he apologized for comments he made about Trump in 2016. He called him “reprehensible” and vowed not to vote for him. Now, he wants voters to forget what he said, telling Fox News that he regrets making those comments.
One senior Ohio Republican told the Washington Examiner that the race in Ohio is anyone’s to win, but it will likely “be Trump’s pick if he endorses.” The statement just goes to show how much influence the former president still has over the GOP.
