Feds Want Buzzfeed Leaker to Spend 6 Months in Prison

(WatchDogReport.org) – In January, Natalie Mayflower Sours Edwards pleaded guilty to a felony count of conspiracy to violate the Bank Secrecy Act. The former Treasury Department official reportedly leaked more than 2,000 bank records to Buzzfeed. The leftist website then included the information in reports about Russiagate. As a result, she might spend some time in prison.

Federal prosecutors are requesting Edwards spend a minimum of six months in prison for the crime. They called it a “betrayal of the public” that could have hindered “ongoing and future investigations.” The prosecution is asking US District Court Judge Gregory Woods to “send a resounding message” that leaking won’t be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Edwards attorneys are trying to convince the court she’s a whistleblower and want her to receive a sentence of time served.

Edwards’ sentencing will take place on November 9. She faces up to a $250,000 fine and 5 years in prison.
