(WatchDogReport.org) – Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is one of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s biggest critics. He’s repeatedly forced the doctor to answer tough questions during Senate hearings. Often, the senator elicits heated responses from Fauci with his questioning; most notably, in recent interrogations implicating Dr. Fauci in “gain-of-function” research. And this week’s meeting had all the excitement we’ve come to expect.
During an explosive Senate hearing on Tuesday, January 11, Paul accused Fauci of politicizing the pandemic. After a tense exchange, the doctor raised his voice at the senator, accusing him of the same thing. He complained the lawmaker was lying about him and using the falsehoods to fundraise, holding up a section of Paul’s website promising he would “#FireFauci.” The message apparently being that because Paul’s constituents want Dr. Fauci removed, and because he advertised that message on his website, Paul’s questioning was disingenuous and focused only on receiving campaign donations.
Sen. @RandPaul tells Dr. Fauci that it's "insulting" to suggest the he "or people who dare to oppose you are responsible for threats" since Paul was "at the ball field the day Steve Scalise almost died." pic.twitter.com/orflmiz6YB

Fauci blamed the senator for death threats he’d received. Paul slammed the doctor for his suggestion, pointing out that he has actually been the victim of a violent attack. The senator was on the Arlington, VA, baseball field in 2017 when a Leftist shot at lawmakers, injuring multiple people, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), in the gunfire.
It seems as though Fauci was trying to shame Paul into silence. But the senator remained undeterred, and made it clear that he’s going to continue asking important questions whether Fauci likes it or not.
