(WatchDogReport.org) – When Joe Biden was running for president, he made it clear that he was going to put an end to most of then-President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. After he was elected, but before he took office, there were already migrant caravans headed to the United States with immigrants wearing Biden campaign gear. The images flashed across television screens in America. At that point, everyone had an inkling of what was coming, but few truly understood the depth of the problem.
Disaster at Border
In the 10 months Biden has been in the Oval Office, the border has been in chaos. Hundreds of thousands of migrants have entered illegally. Border facilities are overcrowded. Many are being deported but if the numbers are any indication, it seems people are crossing multiple times. Unaccompanied minors are being shipped across the country in what Republicans have called “midnight flights” because many have taken place under the cover of darkness. Sadly, the problem isn’t getting any better.
On Monday, November 15, US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) released the October Southwest Land Border Encounters Report. The federal law enforcement agency revealed agents encountered 164,303 migrants in the first month of the 2022 fiscal year. To put that into perspective, 71,929 migrants were apprehended at the same time in 2021, meaning enforcement encounters have more than doubled.
From February through October, USCBP has encountered 1,413,505 migrants. That’s only 22,092 less than the number of immigrants apprehended in 2020 and 2019 combined.
Where Are Kamala and Joe?
President Biden put Vice President Kamala Harris in control of the border in March. It has been months since she has told the American people what she’s doing to stop the surge. The VP has only visited the facilities along the southern border once since she was put in charge, and that was only after Republicans and the media hounded her for months. She has met with the governments in Central America and Mexico, but it doesn’t look like that has helped the problem.
What’s worse, is one of the migrants the administration shipped to another state is now accused of viciously murdering an innocent father of four children. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) is so angry about the administration’s border control policies he has said he wants to ship the migrants Biden sends to his state right back up to Delaware. Maybe if the president is forced to see what is happening up close and personal, he’ll actually start to do the job the American people pay him to do.
